The Association of Teachers of French in Uganda (APFO) is set to join the rest of the world to celebrate the International Day for Teachers of French come Thursday 23rd November 2023.
This is a day that is celebrated worldwide every last Thursday in the month of November. The purpose of celebrating this day is to among other reasons, appreciate the occupation of teaching the French language, sharing experiences in this career and ensuring unity and collaboration of all teachers of this language in the whole world. The theme for this year is “I am proud to be a teacher of French”.
In Uganda, the celebration will take place at Shree Sahajanand School in Bukoto, Kampala starting from 01:00pm. Several stakeholders from UNEB, NCDC, APFO and others will engage in a round table discussion. This discussion will help to exchange and share experiences among teachers of French and also create links and solidarity among the different stakeholders.
The Ambassador of France to Uganda will be the Guest of Honor at the occasion in addition to other dignitaries. Hundreds of teachers of French from Kampala and across the country will be in attendance. The teachers of French in Uganda, especially from outside Kampala and Mukono who may not make it physically will meet at central venues in ten other APFO regions. They will be able to follow the celebration online and thereafter share their experiences among themselves.
